During the May monthly Board of Education Meeting, Dr. Nicole Miller, Chief Academic Officer, made a presentation regarding grade band alignment within Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS). Prior to the start of this presentation, Ms. Barbara Baker, Superintendent of Schools, addressed the public regarding the move to pause the decision on grade band alignment for the northern area schools. The information gathered and studies performed will still be utilized, along with the continuation of future planning. However, a decision will not be made until after the Interim Superintendent is in place.

During the presentation to the Board, Dr. Miller covered an update specific to grade banding for both the northern and southern areas, detailed information specific to the forecast for GCPS, and discussed immediate priorities.
