Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) proudly acknowledges the Pōt-8-er Creators team from Northern Garrett Middle School (NGMS) for their exceptional performance in the Mars Innovation Challenge. The team has secured a remarkable 2nd place in the grade 6-9 category, thanks to their unique and innovative project, 'The Stars of Mars.'
The Mars Innovation Challenge was an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills. The challenge was an extension to FLL, the space unit, and the novel 'A Rover’s Story' by Jasmine Warga. The Pōt-8-er Creators team rose to the occasion and impressed the judges with their exceptional project.
As a testament to their achievement, the 5 team members featured in the entry video have been granted a prestigious invitation to the Human to Mars Summit at George Washington University on Wednesday, May 8th. This exclusive opportunity, generously offered by Janet Ivey, the NASA educator and CEO of Janet's Planet, will allow the team to showcase their video entry and interact with Mars experts.
GCPS is extremely proud of the Pōt-8-er Creators team and their exceptional achievement. Their dedication, hard work, and creativity have been rewarded with this prestigious honor. We would like to congratulate them on their success and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
