Garrett County Public High School’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 1629, GaCo, wishes to express its appreciation and thanks to Don and Elizabeth Morin for the largest single donation the team has received in its twenty-year history.

As the owners of Garrett Container Systems, Inc., the Morins have supported GaCo since its inception in 2005. Their consistent and generous support has played a pivotal role in our growth and success. We are profoundly grateful for their significant investment in our team and the Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS). This enduring partnership is a testament to our shared commitment to STEM education and the future of our community.

The Morin gift boosts GaCo and is a beacon of hope for the entire Garrett County community. With this generous donation, GaCo will continue its mission of creating 'STEM Ready Kids', ensuring that all Garrett County students can develop skills essential to their success in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) by fifth grade.

To that end, GaCo high school students have created and, each year, continue teaching highly engaging STEM lessons to GCPS students in grades 2 through 5. Most of these lessons use LEGOs that the team purchases (used) from worldwide. With the help of GaCo high school students, second-grade students build their own LEGO “Abacus.”

GaCo will also use the donation to support over a dozen FIRST robotics teams for younger GCPS students and build the infrastructure the team needs to develop its world-class, industrial-grade robots for competition. For more information or to donate to the team, please email gaco@gcps.net.
