Friendsville Elementary is proud to announce that fourth-grade student Jett McCormick has been named the Maryland Municipal League District Winner in the “If I Were Mayor, I Would…” essay contest.
Jett competed against fourth-grade students from across Western Maryland and was selected as the district winner from more than 900 essay submissions. His achievement reflects outstanding creativity, critical thinking, and writing skills.
In addition to Jett’s success, Friendsville Elementary also had two students recognized as semi-finalists in the competition. Opal Weaver and Surra Coole were recognized for their outstanding essays and representation of Friendsville Elementary.
Friendsville Elementary congratulates Jett, Opal, and Surra on their accomplishments and commends them for representing the school and community so well.
