Hi, I am the Principal of Friendsville Elementary School. I have worked in the educational system for Garrett County Public Schools for 26 years. My personal vision for Friendsville Elementary School is to provide our students with an understanding of the historical significance our community played in the development of our nation. Through rich educational experiences, the students at Friendsville Elementary will build friendships and camaraderie that will instill in our students the importance of being proud of who you are and where you come from. I want our students to embrace the adversity you face each and every day with kindness and compassion. My goal is for students to be proud of who they are, build pride of self and community, have a positive self-image, and always take that with you through the hardships and successes life has to offer.
I am proud to be a parent of two Northern High School graduates. I also have two dogs and two cats. My wife of 32 years has supported my crazy ideas that focus on building the capacity of the students. I have served as a substitute, teacher, and administrator. I give one hundred percent of myself to support the students I serve. Each and every day, I learn from my mistakes, grow from my experiences and advocate for the success of each and every student. I hope at the end of the day my students are proud of who they are and that I had a small role in taking them as far as they can go.
At Friendsville, we are working together to meet the needs of all learners. It truly takes a village to raise a child and it is important we show respect and compassion for each other. Our goal is to work collaboratively together and do our part in promoting student success. The message I share consistently with students is to be proud of who you are, where you come from, be respectful, support the Veterans who have sacrificed so much for us and work together to build a stronger community and nation.
