The NGHS Husky Marching Band and Color Guard is open and welcoming of all new members who are looking to be a part of this exciting time in the history of the program! Being a part of the marching band is hard work, but the payoff includes learning to work in a team, traveling to perform and compete, creating lifelong friendships and memories, developing musicianship, supporting our community, and taking pride in creating something larger than oneself. Additionally, many NGHS Marching Band alumni have received scholarships for college as a result of their experiences in the program.

 

The Northern Garrett Music Boosters include band and chorus students and parents who fundraise for our members to travel and compete at festivals and competitions. This group is an essential component to keeping our Music Department running smoothly and allows parents the opportunity to spend time supporting their students through chaperoning and other volunteer opportunities. Our Boosters meet once a month to discuss and help organize fundraising events and activities for our students - we hope you will consider joining!

 

No auditions are necessary for membership and we accept members from 7th-12th grade. We hope to see your students join our team this year! Typically, all of our marching band students are also a part of the concert band, but participation in the concert band is not a requirement for joining the marching band. The NGHS Choir is a fun and exciting curricular opportunity open to any NGHS student! The choir typically performs at the winter concert with the concert band and also travels with the concert band to a festival competition in the spring. Previous spring trips have included New York City, Chicago, Virginia Beach, and more! Dedicated and talented students are invited to participate in the yearly Honor Chorus held at Garrett College through the County Arts Fair in the spring. Students will have the opportunity to travel to Southern High School to perform with other committed choir students.
