Service Learning Opportunities:
Students Needed for Youth in Action
Student volunteers are needed to help their peers with knowledge, skills and the power to make safe choices. The primary focus of Youth in Action projects is the prevention of tobacco use, alcohol use and non-medical use of prescription drugs. Meetings are right after school for one hour and will be held twice a month. Transportation home will be available to those who need it and make prior arrangements. Students can earn Service Learning Hours!
Service Learning Graduation Requirements
15 Independent hours required in high school, plus delinquent hours from middle school (50 required).
Students must complete the
Service Learning Validation/Tracking Sheet (blank forms are located in the Counseling Center or can be downloaded from here). It must be completed correctly or the hours will not be accepted and the form will be returned to the student.
Completed forms should be returned to the Counseling Center within four months of the project completion date. The forms will then be stamped with a RECEIVED date and recorded into individual student files.
Students may come to the Counseling Center at any time to find out the number of hours they have or have not completed. Completed hours are also reflected in the monthly progress reports and report cards.
