Advocating and Practicing STEM in Garrett County

  • Welcome to the home of FIRST* Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 1629 - the Garrett Coalition or GaCo for short. We are composed of students from Northern and Southern Garrett High Schools and build robots for competition. More importantly, we advocate and practice STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) in our community. Our mission is to provide each youngster in Garrett County with the catalyst required to develop skills that are essential to be successful in STEM.
     
    The team's ultimate goal is to achieve the vision of FIRST* - "To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders."
     
    We do this by creating an environment for our students to be mentored by STEM professionals and forming partnerships with other organizations to achieve common goals and objectives. Our most effective method of evangelizing youth for STEM is something inspiring in itself.

    Our mission is to provide each young person in Garrett County and the surrounding Appalachia with the catalyst required to develop skills that are essential to be successful in STEM.
