I. Educational Leadership
Performance expectations related to vision, motivation, support of the district’s mission, organizational goals, comprehensive planning, leadership, and professional development.
- Articulate the goals of the district and address broader issues affecting the community to inform and build support for school system initiatives
- Motivate others to improve performance through professional development, collegial guidance, and personal support
- Guide implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, providing students access to a rigorous and meaningful education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life
- Use student performance data to guide system and school improvement efforts
II. Organizational Leadership
Performance expectations related to the daily operations and functions of the school district, as well as the superintendent's expertise in employee-related activities.
- Enhance school, family, and community partnerships
- Enhance collaboration and support between schools and central administration
- Oversee the development of the budget reflecting the needs of the District and the responsible, efficient, and effective use of District assets and resources
- Maintain high-quality academic and athletic buildings and grounds that promote the well-being and academic success of the students and community
III. Governance and Board Relations
The Superintendent works effectively with the Board to monitor and create organizational policies and demonstrates appropriate leadership and governance for the school district.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the Board
- Work successfully with the Board to build community support and enhance the image of the school system
- Meet with County Commissioners
- Develop policies and procedures that promote the goals and objectives of the district and ensure the efficient operation of the schools
