Family Support Services

  • The Family Support Network (FSN) is a free program created to meet the needs of families with children, from birth to thirty-six months, with developmental delays or disabilities in Garrett County.
     

    The FSN works in conjunction with the Garrett County Infants and Toddlers Program. Family Support Center staff are committed to providing information to parents and families so that they can work as equal partners with GCPS. Specifically seeking to:

    • Increase parental involvement in the early intervention and special education decision-making process;
    • Increase collaborative relationships through information and training;
    • Assist families in resolving concerns and making informed decisions regarding their child's education; and
    • Providing information about disabilities and school system and community resources.
     
    Preschool Partners (PP) is a program designed to help families and children transition from the Infants and Toddlers Program into the Extended IFSP Option, the local school system, the preschool special education program, or another community-based early childhood setting.

MSDE Family Support Specialist

  • The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Family Support Section of the Family Support and Dispute Resolution Branch responds to parent inquiries, assists parents with navigating Maryland's early intervention and special education systems, and provides parents with school system resources.
